Marc Jacobs pared down the insanity for this collection — he left just enough for Julia Fox in the front row, though — and offered a list of credits for his inspirations that included 1996 Prada, 1965 Saint Laurent, Helmut Lang from 1995, and his grunge collection when he designed for Perry Ellis, as well as a couple of his own Marc by Marc and Marc Jacobs shows. I find that useful and interesting, because I don’t know fashion history enough to pull out ANY of that without help — and even with the help, it’s not my forte. All I can really see in a lot of this are some cranky rectangles, with several models shoving their hands down their waistbands like frat dudes watching sports.
