The SAGs were pre-taped and edited into an efficient, zippy hour of chitchat and statuettes. As Jessica said, of course Andrea Zuckerman would figure this out, though I do miss the drama inherent in a bloated whale of a telecast. I’m sure the Oscars will deliver. And will they deliver an award to Viola Davis? Andra Day won the Globe, Carey Mulligan won the Critics’ Choice, and Viola took the SAG. But NONE of those three is nominated for a BAFTA, so maybe chaos will reign and either Vanessa Kirby or Frances McDormand will take that one, which would then leave the OTHER one to get the Oscar. How great would that be, if each one had a different winner? The SAGs do frequently predict the Oscars, however.

Up above, we have a few peeks into the ceremony itself, but scroll down for the full outfit views courtesy of Instagram. Specifically, treat yourself to Ms. Davis, once again resplendent:

If you had told me two years ago that Louis Vuitton would be doing some of the best custom work in the business by 2021, I would have asked you to define “best” and then made sure you didn’t have a slow gas leak in your house. But it feels like each major show, I prattle on about how good it is, and here’s another example. It’s a super color, and a graceful, interesting design. She and Elizabeth Stewart have done great work together this year, and smashed another homer with this one. The Dodgers should sign them both.

Steven Yeun looks very nice, and also like the intriguing dude at the dive bar on a Wednesday who brought a book to read along with his IPA. It is a trade paperback he got from the library, and an old one.

I saw the photo and thought, “This lady reminds me of Amy Adams.” Yes. Because she is Amy Adams. Amy here is in Celine, and it’s… fine? Honestly, just go straight to the second slide, because it’s all about the jewelry. The rest of it is very acceptable.

Vanessa is in Givenchy, in a bodice that looks like a horror movie in which beautiful worms start to swarm her and at first she’s drawn in by the sparkle and then suddenly she’s stuck in a sparkly chest cage.

This is such a perfume ad to me. “If wishes were earthworms, bodices would writhe. LE WRIGGLE BY GIVENCHY.”
