At the time of the 2016 Met Gala, Fug Nation was divided on this — some didn’t care for the cut of the gown, but others, like me, were swept away by the incredible pattern and colors. The theme was Manus x Machina, which a lot of designers interpreted via fabric innovations; Burberry claimed it was a high-tech material, without any specifics. Not that I think they’re lying about this. I just have no more to share about WHY, particularly, it was high-tech. Sustainable manufacturing? Anti-bacterial? 5G-enabled?

Regardless, this is the kind of gown that works in the Met Gala’s extravagant context, but would also have had its place on an awards red carpet — it’s dreamy and unique and ornate, but not anything that needs an accompanying pamphlet for me to process it. I also wrote in the original post that I would buy ALL of the accent pillows I could get in this pattern, and I stand by that. If ONLY Burberry would make a homewares line with Target.
