This week in 1966 brought us what Informative Caption calls “English actress Joanna Lumley modelling a trouser suit,” and I would call “Absolutely Fabulous’s Patsy Stone posing incredibly awkwardly in a partially sheer get-up, demonstrating once and for all that she does not know what to do with her hands.” Her Royal Highness Patsy Stone would have SOME NOTES on this, and they would probably be mean! And also funnier than what I just wrote, surely. Looking at this, it’s perhaps for the best that Lumley really only modeled for three years before transitioning into acting — among other things like, as I just learned from her (very interesting) Wikipedia page, being the voice of British AOL (!!!!). You Brits of 2003 were so lucky, having Patsy Stone inform you that you’ve got mail! What a soothing experience after having to suffer through the agonizing SKRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE of dial-up.
