I believe this truly tremendous shot was for Vogue — the photographer is the melodiously monikered Horst P. Horst, who was a very big time celeb/society/fashion photographer, and the credit is Conde Nast — and I truly wish we had a transcript of this shoot:
Joan: Am I sitting on a window sill?
HPH: Of a sort.
Joan: Or leaning through a window?
HPH: In a sense.
Joan: Overlooking a…crypt?
HPH: If you like.
Joan: And I look….?
HPH: Extremely rich.
Joan: Carry on.
