I feel like Joan of Arc is having a moment; we’ve got several Maids of Orleans here, and of course, Saint Joan is currently in the midst of a Broadway revival. (As I mentioned in last week’s post about the Tony nominations, I was in that play as a teen and ergo feel rather protective of Joan.) It’s a really clever tack to take at this particular Met Gala — it’s strong, and youthful, and bold, and who doesn’t love a little bit of chainmail? It’s just unfortunate for everyone who isn’t Zendaya, because she aced this. We should all send Law Roach a congratulatory bouquet.
